What do you get when you bring together a dozen Chihuahuas in patriotic fashion and a patio full of seniors? Smiles and joy! On June 29, 2025, we celebrated our 10th annual fashion show at Pohai Nani retirement home in Kaneohe.
With the Fourth of July theme, our adorable Chihuahuas strutted their stuff in their finest red, white, and blue fashions. From tiny cowboys to sparkly fireworks on four legs, all eyes were on our pint-sized models.
The 14 club members who took part presented dogs ranging from one to 13 years old. Each dog was perfectly groomed and outfitted for their turn on the catwalk. But the real stars of the show? At least 20 Pohai Nani residents whose faces lit up with every tail wag and tiny strut down our makeshift runway.
The post-show “meet and greet” gave residents a chance to get to know our Chihuahua ambassadors. Some residents snuggled with the dogs. A rewarding reminder that there’s nothing like a good dose of Chihuahua love.
Since 2001, our Chihuahuas have made connections across generations. As the only local dog club in Hawaii visiting senior’s facilities, our fashion shows are how we make community service meaningful and fun. Pohai Nani is among several seniors facilities we visit each year.
These events capture our Club spirit in celebrating the charm of Chihuahuas. There’s something special about watching our dogs bring pure joy to others.
